When it comes to defining a cyberdeck, there may be some debate. However, one thing is clear: a cyberdeck should have a battle-ready appearance. If machines were to rise up and threaten humanity, someone carrying a cyberdeck like Cyberdeck Red would certainly stand out. It’s obvious that such an individual would be prepared to help fight against the robotic threat.
Cyberdeck Red may seem familiar because it is the second build by [Gabriel], who also participated in the 2022 contest where his creation secured second place. However, like many cyberdeck builders, [Gabriel] wasn’t content with settling for “good enough” and set out to make some improvements. The noticeable changes in version two include a new and stylish case, which is far more sophisticated than the original, as well as a newly designed split keyboard. Under the hood, there are also changes; the Raspberry Pi 4 has been replaced with a Latte Panda 3 Delta running Windows. Just like the original, version two boasts a variety of sensors and diagnostic equipment, including a Hack RF SDR for radio work and an Analog Discovery 2, which functions as an oscilloscope, signal generator, spectrum analyzer, and impedance tester.
One of the most practical features of Cyberdeck Red is its built-in HDMI projector. This compact projector with short-throw capabilities would be ideal for impromptu combat briefings in makeshift command posts or for simple entertainment like watching Netflix, if permitted by the machines.
