As per reports, the new functionality will empower ChatGPT to retain your preferences and personal information for future interactions
A new update is on the way for ChatGPT, granting the AI Chatbot the capability to store personal information like your name, age, hobbies and preferences for reference in subsequent interactions. Essentially, the chatbot will leverage this data to deliver responses that are more personalized and context-specific.
By enabling users to establish particular preferences for all forthcoming discussions, the ‘custom instructions’ attribute will provide users with greater influence over how ChatGPT handles their queries.
“ChatGPT will take your custom instructions into account for each interaction moving forward. The model will factor in these instructions when generating responses, eliminating the need for you to reiterate your preferences or details in every conversation,” stated OpenAI in their announcement.
Equipping users with a pre-set list of preferences will reduce the length of prompts, given that the chatbot would already possess a wealth of information about you and use that knowledge in conjunction with your query to produce optimal outcomes.
For instance, suppose you are of Islamic faith and wish to find steak recipes that do not include alcohol. In that case, you can establish a new preference, instructing ChatGPT to exclusively display alcohol-free recipes. Subsequently, each recommended recipe will be free of alcohol in its ingredients.
Excited about using this new functionality? It is presently accessible in the beta version and is included in the Plus package, with plans for a full release to all users within the upcoming weeks.
