Firefox 125 is now live on the stable channel, bringing a plethora of new features and enhancements. Among the notable changes are the new ability to mark text in PDFs and improved tab indicators within Firefox View.
Text Marking in PDFs
The latest Firefox update introduces a handy feature that allows users to annotate text in PDF files. Users have the option to choose from five different highlighting colors and adjust the thickness of the marker. This tool is perfect for adding notes to PDF content, with the flexibility to edit or remove highlights as necessary. The feature is currently rolling out gradually to users and is accessible for testing in Firefox Nightly.
Pinned Tabs and Tab Icons in Firefox View
With version 125, Firefox View now showcases pinned tabs in the Open tabs section and introduces tab icons. These icons display indicators for tabs playing media, making it effortless to mute or unmute tabs in various windows. Tab icons can also be seen for bookmarks and tabs with notifications.
Enhancements in the Address Bar
The Address Bar now provides support for Container add-ons specific to tabs, enhancing organization. Additionally, a new feature called URL Paste Suggestion offers autocomplete suggestions for URLs when the address bar is selected and a URL is in the clipboard. This new functionality allows users to swiftly access URLs by selecting the suggested link, streamlining the browsing experience.
Save Address Data Feature
Firefox 125 introduces a feature to store address information after form submissions, enabling automatic filling for forthcoming address form submissions. This feature is currently accessible to users in the U.S. and Canada with particular language settings.
Security Measures
The update implements enhanced security measures, including proactive blocking of potentially harmful downloads and the ability to activate Web Proxy Auto-Discovery (WPAD) in alignment with system proxy configurations.
Radio Buttons Navigation
Enhancing user experience, Firefox now facilitates more efficient navigation of radio buttons by limiting Tab key movement to the initial option, necessitating the use of arrow keys to cycle through choices.
Today, Mozilla is set to release Firefox 125, with users able to access the update on the official website. While a trial version featuring Vertical Tabs was launched, it has yet to be widely released but might be integrated into the Nightly version soon.
