Google has upgraded its Gemini AI assistant by adding a chat recall capability that enables the system to remember and reference earlier conversations. This development seeks to provide responses that are increasingly tailored and contextually pertinent, reducing the necessity for users to rehash prior interactions.
This functionality is accessible to members of Gemini Advanced through the Google One AI Premium subscription, allowing Gemini to revisit and elaborate on previous discussions. Additionally, users can ask for summaries of past conversations and seamlessly continue with ongoing activities without the need to restart.
Users retain control over this feature, enabling them to review, delete, and manage their chat history. They can achieve this by clicking on their profile picture in the upper right corner of the Gemini app and proceeding to “Gemini Apps Activity,” which allows users to monitor and regulate their data per their preferences.
Currently, the chat recall feature is being progressively rolled out to English-speaking users on both web and mobile platforms. Google intends to broaden this functionality to additional languages and to Google Workspace Business and Enterprise clients in the upcoming weeks.
This upgrade positions Gemini alongside other AI assistants, such as ChatGPT, that already provide similar memory features. By enhancing its conversational abilities, Google aims to elevate the user experience and sustain a competitive advantage in the AI assistant sector.
