KARACHI: Dr. Zakir Naik, a prominent Islamic authority, has warned YouTube creators about the platform’s monetization scheme, describing it as “forbidden” under Islamic teachings.
During a recent public gathering in Port City, the originator of Peace TV deliberated on the categorization of YouTube profits as “haram” and analyzed the repercussions of its advertisements. The esteemed scholar pointed out, “Even if you eliminate alcohol promotions, you can’t avoid ads featuring women in scanty attire.” His remarks underline the ethical challenges tied to advertising income linked to materials that showcase women and music.

He remarked that, even with a large fan base and the opportunity for significant earnings, numerous channels that feature his videos frequently include visuals of women in their thumbnails, which typically leads to higher viewership compared to his own content.
Moreover, he noted that his videos have encountered shadow banning, resulting in a decline in views; however, since relocating to an Asian country, he has observed an uptick in audience engagement.
Dr. Naik further emphasized the significance of righteous earnings and urged attendees to avoid utilizing YouTube for influence. He encouraged them to concentrate on their beliefs, asserting that forgoing ad income would not adversely affect their lives but rather yield greater rewards.
This trip to Pakistan marks Dr. Naik’s first in three decades, as he last visited the nation in the early 1990s. Presently living in Malaysia due to controversies and legal issues with the Modi administration in India, he has been promoting his views from abroad.
