Microsoft Peripherals Licensed to Onward Brands for Production

Back in April 2023, Microsoft had announced they would stop selling their own branded peripherals such as keyboards and mice to focus on Surface computers and accessories. This decision faced criticism, but it seems that Microsoft is now granting a license to Incase, owned by Onward Brands, to produce these peripherals. Onward Brands, the portfolio manager for Incase and other brands, will launch a line of ‘Designed By Microsoft’ peripherals in 2024.

It’s noteworthy that despite Microsoft’s long history of selling peripherals since the 1980s (the Microsoft Mouse debuted in 1983), the responsibility will now shift to this new company, which reportedly shares the same suppliers as Microsoft. Incase is expected to reintroduce a similar range of products that Microsoft had been offering at the beginning of 2023. Therefore, it’s unlikely that discontinued peripherals like the Natural 4000 will make a comeback.

If Incase successfully reintroduces these products, which items are you most interested in purchasing? Did you manage to stock up on any of these items back in April when the original announcement was made?
