The administration of Pakistan is ready to implement 10,000 charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) throughout the nation by 2030. The introduction of a second EV policy is anticipated by the close of November.
This bold initiative was disclosed by Rana Tanveer Hussain, the Federal Minister for Industries and Production, at an expo showcasing electric bike models.
During his address, Minister Hussain underscored the government’s dedication to decreasing carbon emissions and diminishing reliance on fossil fuels. He pointed out that this project could establish Pakistan as a regional hub for electric mobility.
Hussain noted that 31 firms are actively exploring investment prospects in Pakistan’s EV sector, with two of these retailers already securing licenses to produce electric vehicles locally.
Additionally, the Minister commended the Punjab government’s projects aimed at promoting electric two- and three-wheelers by offering financial incentives to attract prospective buyers.
He also declared that the government has allocated Rs4 billion to procure 100 electric bikes, which will be awarded to outstanding students as recognition for their academic achievements.
