The latest Henley Passport Index reveals that Pakistan is positioned among the weakest countries globally regarding passport efficacy, falling behind war-torn areas like Palestine. A combination of rigorous visa regulations, security issues, and insufficient diplomatic ties has resulted in Pakistan achieving a score of 102, considerably hindering the global movement of its populace.
Individuals holding a Pakistani passport can access 33 nations without a visa, including destinations such as Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq. Throughout the last five years, the Pakistani passport has persistently been rated inferior to those from nations like Liberia, Somalia, Sudan, Haiti, and Chad.
Conversely, possessors of a Singaporean passport can travel to 195 countries visa-free out of a total of 227, while other countries sharing the second spot, such as Japan, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, enjoy access to 192 destinations without needing a visa.
The Henley Passport Index, which incorporates data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) along with research conducted by Henley & Partners, highlights the significance of diplomatic connections in shaping travel privileges. The recent Global Mobility Report 2024 emphasizes the growing inequalities in travel opportunities across various regions.
