Pakistan Railways has introduced its winter schedule; however, the Live Tracking App, which permits passengers to observe train timings, has yet to be refreshed to include these modifications.
This lapse has resulted in a 59-minute difference between the timetable displayed on the app and the actual train schedules, leading to difficulties for numerous ticket-holding passengers. The Live Tracking system, initiated in 2019, was intended for users to follow train movements on mobile gadgets and receive updates regarding arrivals and postponements.
Regrettably, the lack of updates following the rollout of the winter timetable has complicated planning for travelers. Railway officials have mentioned that the responsibility of refreshing the app rests with the headquarters; however, the holdup in addressing this issue has exasperated users.
Created with the assistance of Google Maps, the Live Tracking App incurred a cost of Rs 7 million, in addition to Rs 70 million spent on 350 trackers installed in 325 railway engines. The app is designed to notify users 15 minutes prior to a train’s arrival, while also supplying details about any delays.
Travelers rely on the Live Tracking App for updates on train arrivals and departures. Nevertheless, the 59-minute inconsistency between the app’s indicated times and the true schedule has made it challenging for many passengers to board their trains, even with legitimate tickets.
