LAHORE: The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has broadened the reach of the “CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi” program, now offering complimentary internet connectivity at over 230 locations throughout the province.
This initiative aims to turn Punjab into a hub for information technology, ensuring that all inhabitants have convenient access to the internet.
At present, the free Wi-Fi service is provided at 200 sites in Lahore, 10 in Kasur, 15 in Sheikhupura, and 5 in Nankana Sahib. Other cities reaping the benefits of this program include Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur.
Since its launch on June 16, the initiative has experienced significant success, with 7.7 million users utilizing 111 terabytes of data in the first three months. The average uptime of primary channels is reported at 98.7%.
In a media briefing concerning this program, a spokesperson from the Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) highlighted that it not only enhances educational prospects but also supports individuals interested in launching businesses and connecting socially.
