Samsung has officially announced that its eagerly awaited Galaxy S25 series will incorporate Qualcomm’s innovative Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. TM Roh, the president of Samsung Mobile, hinted that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be outfitted with this outstanding processor. Although he did not explicitly mention the Galaxy S25, his comments have heightened anticipation that at least one variant in the series will be driven by the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite offers significant improvements in comparison to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 used in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, boasting 40% more robust GPUs and a 35% advancement in ray tracing functionality, which enhances gaming and multitasking experiences. Moreover, it achieves a remarkable 44% boost in power density, enabling users to enjoy high performance while maintaining battery lifespan.
This chip also incorporates a new NPU that enhances AI-related activities by 45%, thus enhancing the overall user experience with the Galaxy’s AI functionalities. Additionally, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is equipped with a sophisticated cognitive AI image signal processor that improves photo quality and supports intelligent image processing, including real-time scene enhancements and editing capabilities.
Samsung has been developing the Exynos 2500, which was initially intended to debut alongside the Galaxy S25 series. However, recent reports suggest that yield rates for this 3nm chip are encountering difficulties, potentially affecting production levels. This circumstance may force Samsung to rely exclusively on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for the entire Galaxy S25 range or explore MediaTek for the base and Plus models.
Although there is no official confirmation regarding this possible alteration, Samsung is cited as one of Qualcomm’s affiliates anticipated to unveil Snapdragon 8 Elite devices soon, indicating that this chipset will play a crucial role in the Galaxy S25 series, whether across all versions or solely in the flagship model.
Expected Release Date of Snapdragon Chip
The Galaxy S25 series, poised to introduce the new Snapdragon processor, is expected to launch in early 2025. This release is anticipated to bring significant advancements for Samsung smartphone enthusiasts.
