The Federal Ministry of IT and Telecommunication (MoITT) has announced its plan to educate 15,000 Pakistani citizens in a variety of new and specialized technologies. This inclusive group, comprising of young people and women, will be part of MoITT’s initiative known as the “Enhancing Expertise in IT Sector for Specialized Technologies & Platforms.” The program aims to impart knowledge on sophisticated modern technologies such as Blockchain, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, e-health, BPO, e-agriculture, and more.
The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), a division of MoITT, is actively collaborating with IT educational institutions and industry professionals to pinpoint high-demand technologies within both global and local markets.
The overall estimated cost for the training of these 15,000 individuals amounts to Rs. 2 billion, of which the Government of Pakistan has already set aside Rs. 1 billion for the initial phase of the initiative. As part of the training scheme, 300 expert trainers will be groomed to educate others in specialized technologies required by the industry, such as blockchain and cloud computing. These skillful trainers will also support the industry in human resource development endeavors, curriculum structuring, and training activities.
A task force committee, consisting of representatives from the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), the Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA), and other key stakeholders, will supervise all preliminary groundwork. This encompasses the selection of training partners, trainers, training modules, and their respective durations.
Prior to advancing to the subsequent phase of the initiative, an industry-wide survey will be conducted to gauge the demand for a proficient workforce and the essential technologies needed. The survey outcomes will influence the selection of companies and training programs, allowing IT companies the flexibility to engage online.
Out of the 15,000 trainees, once they satisfactorily complete their training, 2,500 individuals will be given the opportunity for a three-month internship at various IT enterprises. These interns will receive a monthly allowance of Rs. 25,000 and may also avail themselves of potential job prospects.
