Love them or hate them, there’s no denying that Apple has strayed from the Woz’s original open platform ideal for the Apple II. [Ken Pillonel] is back for another round of addressing Apple’s repairability issues by providing a range of 3D printable replacement parts for the AirPods Pro case.
Although simply modeling all the parts would be useful for repairing a device with a dismal 0/10 iFixit score, [Pillonel] took it a step further by modifying the parts to be assembled with screws instead of adhesive. This ensures that any future repairs can be done without cracking the plastic casing. He emphasizes, “By highlighting the potential for repairability, I hope to inspire both consumers and multi-billion dollar companies, like Apple, to adopt sustainable practices in their products.”
