YouTube is diving into gaming with its innovative feature called Playables. This signifies the video and music streaming giant’s foray into the gaming sector. The talk about YouTube’s gaming offering had been circulating since June, hinting at the platform’s incorporation of uncomplicated arcade-style games. The speculations have been confirmed, and YouTube has introduced the ‘Playables’ gaming experience as part of its trial features and experiments. This new gaming characteristic provides an engaging experience for viewers, permitting them to engage in games directly on YouTube, whether on desktop or mobile devices. The games are described as straightforward arcade-type time fillers rather than intricate adventures.
The ongoing trial involves a select group of YouTube users who will have access to a section called ‘Playables’ on their YouTube home feed. Participants will also be capable of viewing and managing their playable history and stored game progress in their regular YouTube history menu. The specific games accessible to these early testers have not been disclosed, but a game named “Stack Bounce,” which involves demolishing bricks with a bouncing ball, was mentioned in a report. These games are developed in HTML 5.
The YouTube homepage is projected to soon showcase an array of new mini-games as the video-sharing platform enters the experimentation phase for this feature. Presently, this feature is only open to a small group of beta testers. If you are part of these testers, the feature, known as “Playables,” should become visible in a separate tab on the homepage.
Reports suggest that a game named Stack Bounce is among the titles available in this experimental feature. In this game, players guide a ball that smashes through rings with well-timed clicks. The title may sound familiar, as Google’s GameSnack service previously included Stack Bounce.
It’s important to note that maneuvering a 3D ball is quite different from the kinds of games previously provided by Google Stadia. As per Google, the system will preserve game progress, which can be accessed through the ‘History’ tab.
